Opelia is a Mediterranean restaurant tucked into the heart of downtown Los Gatos, offering a somewhat intimate dining experience that blends both indoor and seasonal outdoor seating along East Main Street. The setting suits those looking for a calm yet warm atmosphere, often favored for date nights or small gatherings where the focus is on savoring thoughtful, artful dishes alongside a carefully curated wine and cocktail list.

The menu leans into classic Mediterranean flavors with a few standout items like the Meze Platter — perfect for sharing — and fresh seafood preparations such as kalamar (calamari) and sea bass. Their salad options, including Choban and Rezene, bring a refreshing touch, while selections like lamb shank showcase a heartier side. The wine list features several French rosés and sparkling options, notably the Berne Romance Rose and Pierre Chainier Brut, which complement many dishes well and appeal to those who appreciate Mediterranean dining with quality drinks at hand.

Service here tends to be attentive and knowledgeable, with staff often helping guests navigate the menu and wine pairings. The owner, Ali, is known to engage with diners, adding a personal touch that locals notice and appreciate. Some guests have pointed out that the music volume inside can be higher than expected, which may affect quieter conversation times, especially considering the space’s cozy size. For a more relaxed vibe, sitting outside seems to be a favored choice when the weather permits.

Visitors who enjoy a balance of stylish yet comfortable surroundings will find Opelia suited for an early evening meal or weekend dinner when Los Gatos has a lively but manageable pace. The mix of Mediterranean flavors, wine variety, and personalized service makes it a spot geared towards those who like exploring food with a regional twist and an interest in both seafood and meat-centric dishes. Casual first-timers and returning locals alike will appreciate the artistic approach to familiar dishes, even if some plates can be hit-or-miss depending on individual taste.

Great food, great decor and ambiance. However, the owner needs to recognize that he is playing his music WAY TOO LOUD!. When your place is small, and you play your music too loud, then all your diners are going to have to raise their voices and suddenly it's so loud that the experience can be unpleasant. Secondly, I would have asked to be seated outside for a more pleasant experience as the place had many tables available, however, they only had one space heater for the entire outdoor seating. That didn't make sense to me because they were packed/full inside, and more tables could have been booked for a cozy experience outside. Invest in space heaters, you will fill the tables.

Such a beautiful dining experience. Zach doubled as our bartender and server, and guided us on the food and drinks. We loved everything we ate and drank, start to finish. Meze combo, sea bass, lamb shank. All truly delicious. Romantic and warm atmosphere great for date night.

Pleasant atmosphere indoors and outdoor. Attentive server. Good selection of food options. Chicken skewer was good. Cons: food was just ok, as it didn’t taste yummy: cauliflower appetizer was tasteless, beef souvlaki was just a braised beef with tomato sauce and one blub of plain yogurt on top with no specific spice or taste!

I’ve been here more than 20 times. I tried every single thing in the menu and I decided that these guys are not cooking, they’re making art! Seafoods are amazing! And also large alcohol selection. The staff is absolutely wonderful!

We had the pleasure of meeting and dining with Ali, the owner chef. Ali ordered for us and we had a most delicious meal. Started with the sample plate and then ordered 3 mains, 2 desserts and finished with turkish coffees. The bartender recommended a bottle of red wine that was perfect. Ali shared the tradition of turning the turkish coffee over after drinking to let the grounds become your fortune teller. All delicious and beautifully presented. We love the cozy atmosphere and the booth seating. I highly recommend this restaurant for a completely new and gourmet side of turkish dining.

Recently opened and a great addition to Los Gatos! Nice vibe and solid service, a little green but will get better with time. We started with the Meze platter, delicious, nice variety. Had the sea bass, perfectly cooked and the lamb chops also very good. Both dishes served on a bed of roasted veggies. Friend had the Moussaka which they enjoyed, I did not try it, should have, lol. A little dark, I’m old, I hate mood lighting, just wanna be able to see my food without strategically moving the table lamp around! That’s my biggest quibble which will not stop me from going back! Did not have dessert, maybe next time.

The place recently opened. The interior is warm, cozy, and classy all at once. You’ll find a rich variety of Mediterranean dishes on the menu. We started with the Brussels sprouts, followed by the Firenze salad, which included strawberries, dates, and arugula leaves. For our entrée, we had the Icnik (lamb shank), which was incredibly tender and delicious, served with a side of barley that had a pleasant, whey-like sourness. The cherry on top of our dinner was the Ekmek Kadayifi with ice cream—a true masterpiece. The cream inside the toasted bread was rich, buttery, and perfectly sweetened. Our server, Karina, was very polite and friendly, and we trusted her food suggestions completely.

first time at opelia. my friend and I enjoyed the refreshing cocktails, great service and good food. we shared the roasted cauliflower, taziki and pita (the bread was soft and warm) and the chicken thigh/risotto dish. everything was tasty and the portions were generous. the only knock on the place was how loud it got during dinner...it's a small place so I guess that can be expected? also it was hard reading the menu...the font type and description of the dishes made it difficult. not a big deal, but we both made a comment about it. I look forward to visiting opelia again soon. it was really quite delish!!
